*THIS IS ABOUT SAVING THE SOUL OF AMERICA* *IS THIS THE TIME? OR SHOULD WE LOOK FOR ANOTHER?* A very famous man once wrote a scorching warning that should serve to substantiate this concern I have in studying the phenomenon of Limbaughism for over fifteen years. “Even so,” he said, “the tongue is a little member, and boast great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and set on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.” Also words come to mind of another famous writer: “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” “Hate radio,” the ingenious invention of Rush Limbaugh, has created an amazing business that employs the mind and labor of millions. People who are singling out and justifying their assaults on defenseless victims. Rush ( does he go to Church?) and Sean Hanity ( a devout Christian who goes to Church ) are now multi-millionaires. Fate has given them the ultimate victim --- a black candidate for president and the unprecedented opportunity in which fear looms as a winning tool for the occasion. What can be more delicious than attacking a duly elected Senator, a black candidate for president, and linking him to religious zealots, cut throats, murders and ideological trouble makers. So let us talk about tongues, gossip, money, and the sin of “righteous arrogance.“ No.1: It is sufficiently documented that Obama was not present to hear Reverend Wright’s infamous “God d___” sermon about America. The truth is Obama was away on personal business. But they keep playing it over and over, while they giggle in the background. No. 2: It is understandable that white America is completely ignorant of the evolution of the

black preacher and his preaching. However any intelligent observer should know that the preaching of both the white and the black preacher has evolved as it emerged out of America’s darkest sin. Preaching in all of America’s pulpits, both black and white, reflect the evolution of an unique American phenomenon. To wit, on Sunday morning, preaching in America is yet dealing with America’s great sin --- in what is yet the most segregated institution in the history of the United States --- the church. No.3: While emerging out of the quagmire of legalized segregation, the white pulpit protected the status quo with guarded stubbornness. The black pulpits, while adjusting to the shackles of segregation, and the angry teeth of police dogs, wrestled with a gospel of reconciliation mixed with an “holy vengeance.” Black and white pulpits are yet forced to deal with unrestrained anger. America is still a nation with a cancerous residue of the worse kind of hate --- the kind that hides behind public statements of self denial. No.4: It does not matter that there is proof Obama was not present to hear the infamous “God d___” sermon about America. The scare tactics of evil merchants will continue to get rich filling the airwaves with frightening innuendoes and hateful division --- a tactic that is destined to reap the judgment of the Eternal Court Of Justice. No. 5: Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hanity need to know that America’s greatest (white) evangelist, traveled through out the south with a famous black soloist on staff, but he couldn’t afford to sanction nor to participate in the causes for which her brothers and sister marched and were jailed for. Rush and Sean, hate radio, and the millions of “ditto heads” need to know that the guilt of their fathers can never, never erase the guilt that is also ingrained in the “white” advantages bequest to them from the sweat, blood and deaths of human beings held in two hundred years of bondage. Conclusion: Truth, justice and judgment have inevitable biblical significant. The denial of guilt is what leads to the punishment of spiritual death. Confession leads to salvation. Having said all of that, the doors of the Church ( as the preacher says) are now open.
